Since 1978, Paradise Mountain Log & Timber Frame Homes has consistently crafted the finest Handcrafted, Scandinavian Full-Scribe log homes. To achieve this, skilled craftsmen carefully hand-peel and hand-scribe each log using the Scandinavian full scribe method with the Canadian Lock Notch corner. As a result, they precisely fit each log to the next, eliminating visible butt joints. Furthermore, beyond log homes, they also build Timber Frame and Post & Beam style homes, cabins, and buildings.
Our craftsmen primarily construct handcrafted log and timber homes using Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar logs. Because Douglas Fir has a tight grain and light color, it is known for its strength and minimal taper. Typically, the logs range from 12 to 20 inches in diameter. Moreover, we carefully harvest them in winter when the sap is down. Afterward, they air-dry throughout the year until they reach a moisture content of 19 percent or less. Additionally, to ensure top quality, over 95 percent of our timber meets the highest premium grade standard of the Timber Products Inspection Agency.
Energy efficiency remains one of the most frequently asked questions about log homes. Our team handcrafts log and timber frame homes and cabins to ensure they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This happens because of the size of the logs and their thermal mass. For instance, an 8-inch milled log home contains far less mass and cellular structure than a 12- to 16-inch log. Furthermore, when builders properly finish these homes using the envelope calculation method for R-equivalency, they achieve an approximate R-value of R30+. Additionally, the roof and floors receive insulation with R38 fiberglass for even greater efficiency.
Nearly 90% of Paradise Mountain Log Homes feature custom designs. By working with our professional design, drafting, and architectural team, you can save valuable time and costs. However, each plan must first go through the Structural Engineering process after completion. Additionally, engineers tailor all plans to be site-specific, as all counties require this step before issuing a Building Permit.
Of course, we can’t endorse all log homes. However, at Paradise Mountain Log Homes, we believe that following our blueprints and building practices, along with applying the right stains and sealers, ensures your log home will last for generations.
One of the frequently asked questions we receive is about how difficult it is to finish a log home. To make the process easier, our blueprints provide complete details to aid the contractor, along with a free consultation and technical assistance as needed. Additionally, we design our log packages to be very builder-friendly. In short, we service what we sell.

Yes, we provide free estimates. One of the frequently asked questions we receive is about how to get an estimate. Typically, we need a sketch with dimensions, and having a clear idea of what you want greatly helps. Moreover, if you find a design you like elsewhere, we can provide an estimate based on that and even re-draw it with modifications to fit your needs. A key piece of advice – do not choose your log home company solely based on a pre-made design or plan they offer. Instead, select a company based on the style of log work you prefer, and then have them create or customize your plans accordingly.
The average cost of our log shell packages typically ranges from $65 – $75+ per square foot for standard homes. However, prices may increase depending on the complexity of the design, the number of corners, the roof system, and the delivery destination. Additionally, larger logs with a 14” – 16” mean diameter or premium materials like Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar will add to the cost per square foot. For a more accurate estimate, please contact us so we can provide a detailed quote.
Our Timber Frame House package generally ranges from $55 to $65 per square foot. Notably, this price includes prefabricated stick-frame exterior wall panels, built per plan, and constructed with 2×6 SPF studs and ½” standard SPF plywood (exterior side of studs). However, insulation is not included in this package.
Since the log home includes a 9 1/2″ deep or 2×10 framed floor system built over the second-story log floor joists, there is plenty of space for plumbing and wiring. In fact, bathrooms no longer need to be stacked like in the past. Additionally, there is ample room for HVAC. Furthermore, the process also includes notching out spaces for electrical boxes, flattening logs for cover plates, and drilling vertical chase holes for wiring. The exact amount depends on the specific floor plan.
